Health Insurance
All of our pups come with 30 days of free health insurance through TRUPANION. I will be honest; they are not the cheapest pet insurance company out there. However, they are one of the companies with the best coverage. Check out the Trupanion offer. The first 30 days of your puppy’s insurance is free.
If you do not sign up 24 hours before pickup, you will only have 24 hours to sign up once you pick up your puppy. Once the first 30 days is complete, Trupanion does not require that you sign up for their services. Instead, they just offer you the option.

Vaccinating Your Puppy
Vaccinations have been a staple in dog care for many decades now. They help prevent disease, especially the fatal diseases such as parvovirus (parvo), adenovirus, and distemper.
At 5 weeks of age, we give all of our puppies a Neopar vaccine. Neopar is the only known parvo vaccine that works with the antibodies provided by the dam. When they reach 8 weeks of age, we administer their first DA2PP (DHPP) vaccination to each puppy.
Your puppy should get its second vaccine three to four weeks after their 8 week vaccination. After the second DA2PP shot, you should follow your veterinarian’s vaccine protocol (this will usually be 3 – 4 weeks apart)
- We recommend that your puppy’s second and third vaccinations are DA2PP+Lepto.
- Puppies should have a minimum of three sets of puppy vaccines with the last vaccine given at 15 to 16 weeks of age.
- Once your puppy turns 3 months of age, they can get their rabies vaccine.
- At one year of age, your dog will need a booster for all vaccines (DA2PP+Lepto and RV).
- We do not recommend vaccinating your puppy for coronavirus (CV) or Leptospirosis (LV) until 10 weeks of age and never at the same time. These are the vaccines that have a higher reaction rate which is why the puppy should be slightly older and why they should be given separately. Without separating the vaccines, if your dog has a vaccine reaction, you have no idea what vaccine the reaction is from. Additional vaccine information can be found on our Helpful Information pages on the website.
Recommended Vaccination Protocol:
1st Vaccine: Neopar – 5 Weeks (Given while with us and provided by Regency Ranch)
2nd Vaccine: DA2PP – 8 Weeks (Given while with us and provided by Regency Ranch)
3rd Vaccine: DA2PP + LV – 12 Weeks
4th Vaccine: DA2PP + LV and RV (Rabies) – 16 Weeks
**5th Vaccine: – DA2PP – 18 Weeks This is ONLY necessary if your puppy is not 16 weeks when he/she receives the last vaccine**
One year after the last puppy vaccine, your dog should get boostered.
Recommended Heartworm and Flea Prevention

- When you puppy is taken in for its vaccinations, it should be started on a heartworm prevention. If you do not know what heartworms are, please check out the article on the website. Heartworm prevention is not an option when it comes to the overall health of your puppy/dog.
- Flea Prevention: Your puppy should also be put on a flea prevention. It is much easier to prevent fleas than to fight them once the puppy and your house has become infested.
What We Do
For our dogs, from the age of 12 weeks to one year, our dogs are on Simperica Trio which is an oral flea prevention and heartworm prevention in one. Another option is Trifexis. Once our dogs reach a year of age we change them to Proheart 12 (which is a once a year injectable) for heartworm prevention and Bravecto, which is a flea prevention that only has to be given every three month.
